[greg-dev] Rationale behind folders vs. categories

Gregarius has folders because it had folders before categories. You can
read some of the design philosophy at the ticket for implementing
    categories (http://svn.gregarius.net/trac/ticket/96) and the related
    email thread on this list
    (http://sinless.org/pipermail/gregarius-dev/2005-August/000202.html).

There is a half-written message to this list in my drafts folder from
nearly a month ago in which I suggest getting rid of both folders and
categories and only using tags. From a database point of view,
categories and tags are currently stored in the same table, so it would
only be necessary to convert currently existing folders to tags. Still,
even if we did decide to do this, I think it is big enough that it will
probably only appear in the release after 0.6.0.
