[greg-dev] Rationale behind folders vs. categories

I spoke to Marco ages ago about this but I'm finally starting work on getting Awasu, a PC-based feed reader, to synchronize with Gregarius (version 0.5.4).

Awasu lets users organize their feeds in a traditional folder tree but also allows a feed to appear in more than one folder. This gives the best of both worlds, the familiarity of an Explorer-style tree structure with the flexibility of a tag-based system.

Gregarius also allows the flexibility of putting a feed into more than one category (although only one level deep) but also offers a way of creating folders, in which a channel may only appear once. I don't quite get the point of this; why would anyone use this more restrictive method rather than categories?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to map the Awasu feed hierarchy to Gregarius' but I don't understand the reason for Gregarius having folders.
